Lloyd and Marjorie Lewis

Lloyd Lewis, son of Evan and Jean Lewis, was born May 6, 1924 in Canmore and, except for the war years, has lived his entire life in Canmore. Lloyd attended Canmore Public School. In April, 1943, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He was also a member of the First Special Service Force (the Green Berets). Following discharge from the Army, he was employed at Canmore Mines until it closed in 1979. In 1979, he was employed by Canada Cement, Exshaw, AB, until retiring in 1989. Lloyd is life member of the Three Sisters #3 Branch, Royal Canadian Legion, having served as president and zone commander. Lloyd was one of the original members of the Canmore Volunteer Fire Department.

Marjorie Lewis (daughter of Chrissie and Clayton Lawrence) was born in Edmonton, AB., December 11, 1925. Marjorie was educated in Edmonton and Lougheed and graduated from the Edmonton Misericordia School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1949. Her nursing career in Canmore began in 1957 at the old Canmore Hospital and ended in 1989 as executive director of Canmore General and Auxiliary Hospital when she retired. Marjorie is member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion, having served on the executive and as president.
