Ruth Beaudreau

Written by Canmore Museum

Ruth Beaudreau (nee Godley), of English and Irish descent, was born in Vancouver and grew up there. As a young girl, Ruth enjoyed playing the piano and took lessons for many years. She worked as a comptometer operator until that machine was phased out, later she worked at the Safeway office until her retirement in 1977. After retiring, she spent several years as a volunteer at the Grace Hospital in Vancouver, went hiking, and often went dancing.

Ruth was married twice and had two children, Merilyn Adler (nee Thorpe), and Gary Beaudreau. In early 1997, she moved from Vancouver to the Bow River Lodge in Canmore. Ruth enjoys living at the lodge and visiting with Merilyn and John who live close by.
