As a teenager I always knew I was different. I liked different music, I loved to sing and dance and perform. I tried to hide who I was for many years and almost drove myself insane. I got to a point where I didn’t want to fake it anymore. I was done trying to impress others and accepted myself. I was wanting to come out to my family and friends but was outed before I had the chance. It was terrifying at times but after I finally realized that there was a community out there who would accept and love me just the way I am, I finally felt alive. Coming out doesn’t just happen once, it continues with every new person you meet. The only difference is that it gets easier as you become stronger. There are many people just like us in this world and we all make it a better place by expressing our true selves.
